XY

XY (2009) featured four male solos exploring male gendering in American society performed within the constraints of a 5'X5' stage for our Big Dance/Little Space festival.

Each section featured movement devised by performers Victor Gomez, Michael Lowman, Omar Raudez and myself.  Victor and Omar's sections utilized synonyms of "masculinity" and "femininity" matched with words from the Elements of Movement to create movement.

Michael and my sections featured monologues written by each of us with "juicy" words from the text matched with the Elements words.

My performance was soon after toe and hip surgery for arthritis and my section deals directly with my efforts to deal with the realities of being an aging man in a youth-centered art form.  PZ
