In/Decision (2016)
Choreographic Manipulations: Paul Zmolek and Carolyn Fitzgibbons
Original Choreography: David Ollington
Sound Score and Voices: Paul Zmolek
Costume Design and Construction: Cim Roesener
Performance: Carolyn Fitzgibbons
In/Decision is a manipulation of David Ollington’s Decision, originally performed by Carolyn Fitzgibbon during Winter Dance 2015 at Kansas State University.
Repetition of original choreography and moments of going to the floor have been inserted into the original structure while the timing and effort of the original movement has been altered.
The music, was performed in Bridget Close’s 2013 manipulation/expansion of Zmolek’s one-act physical theatre piece Rue for Ophelia. It is a sonic reflection on what is perhaps the most renowned indecisive soliloquy in literature, Hamlet’s “To be or not to be”.
