Aaron Ellis is a Jewish scholar, artist, and activist, working at the intersection of laboratory performance research and pressing political questions facing us today. Ellis is a recent PhD in Theatre Studies and holds an MA in Religion, Ethics, and Philosophy from Florida State University. For their dissertation Ellis engaged in extensive ethnographic fieldwork in the Bronx, NYC; Paris, France; and the Tuscan countryside with a theatre group founded at the Workcenter of Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards in 2007: The Open Program. Ellis is currently developing a digital humanities approach to connecting archives and current events for distance-learning teaching. Ellis teaches Theatre and Religious Studies at Valencia College - West Campus in Orlando, Florida.
