SERDE residency

Aizpute, Latvia
Two week residency in the beautifully restored 18th century wood and red brick structures of SERDE in Aizpute, Latvia. Artistic research focused upon the creation of short videos responsive and reflexive of the site of SERDE and public spaces in Aizpute.

Mid-century delusion of technology
the portal of happiness.
Hinges allow for in and out, up and down.
Hefty doors swing.
Peeling paint flakes.
The pressure is unrelenting.

Shiny concrete, rotting left behinds
Wooden utensils standing in basket.
Clanking metal spoon
Muesli, kefirs, milk.
Morning smell of coffee
Fills the empty.

Worn planks fermenting memories.
Forgotten bits seen in wooden eyes,
Knots where branches grew.
