The large and inspiring studio space(s) provided for us by Mission Street Arts far exceeded our hopes and expectations. Generations of artists are etched and carved into 45 Mission Street - the spirit of Eva's father, Mike Murphy, is keenly felt in and through the thick stone walls and abundant gardens. Those that make Mission Street their permanent home, nurture the breath and life force of this very special place. We very much enjoyed and treasure the time spent and space shared with MSA. Sorting through the work generated while in residence we are struck by the depth and joy it is giving us, a reciprocal reception as we reflect back and improve upon. We are so very grateful for the time and space granted allowing us to explore/expand into new areas. Jo surrendered to a deep dive into paper making and stamping with found materials while Paul massaged his affinity for iconoclasm through an essay that gave play to his curiosity of the sacred and the profane of the Manhattan Project and the region of Jemez Springs. We enjoyed sharing our work in process as well as past work, with the Jemez Springs community at the Jemez Springs Public Library. The staff was very supportive of our research throughout the residency, Billy Ehret, as director of MSA is a wonderful host and we greatly enjoyed sharing the space with Eva, Devin and Oliver.
