CAGEVENT 2{020}2: SOMETIMES IT WORKS, SOMETIMES IT DOESN’T REDUX

Through collaborative writing sessions reminiscent of the Surrealist game Exquisite Corpse, we played with the words "Cage", "Event", "Re" and "Happening" to create the content for Cagevent 2{020}2. Following John Cage’s use of chance operations and time brackets to structure theatrical scores, determinately timed scores of spoken, sound, and action events indeterminately performed by collaborating artists. A playful event of discrete and overlapping timed events within the duration of 00:00-60:00 (60 minutes).

The first iteration of Cagevent: Sometimes it works, Sometimes it doesn’t (2012) was performed in a converted shipping container placed in a busy shopping district for the Kontaining Festival  in Helsinki, Finland.
